Hours: 39hr/wk (notionally 7am-4pm Mon/Thur, 7am-3pm Fri).

Job Overview:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and practical individual to work within our Engineering Team as an injection mould technician.

As a skilled Injection Moulding setter, you will be expected to perform tool changes, set up moulding machines, optimise processes, tool trials for new products, tool and machine maintenance as pr TPM program, whilst complying with all health and safety policies and procedures, environmental policies and any associated legislation & regulations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out tool changes effectively and safely in the injection moulding areas of the business.
  • Ensure the continuous running of the machines at optimum cycle time to produce quality products.
  • To be able to work well within the technical and maintenance team.
  • To carry out tool and material trials
  • Basic machine maintenance and trouble shooting
  • To ensure injection moulding processes can achieve targeted scrap and efficiency levels, on new and existing products
  • To drive continuous improvements ensuring product quality is maintained & good working practices are adhered to.
  • To complete TPM on mould tools stripping and cleaning and part replacement
  • To liaise with all members of the department to ensure operations run smoothly
  • To ensure Health & Safety rules are fully adhered to and maintained, including duty of care for colleagues, visitors, contractors or anyone else on site.

Key skills & qualifications:

  • Industry recognised injection moulding qualifications NVQ level 3 or higher
  • Solid understanding of plastic injection moulding processes and automation
  • Experience carrying out full tool changes and setting up production machines
  • Experience using Arburg/Negri Bossi machines would be an advantage.
  • Experience of working with and carrying out basic preventative maintenance on injection moulding machinery and tooling.
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively to own initiative
  • Knowledge of Thermoset material
  • Knowledge of working with glass filled nylons.
